Fred Winter Handicap Hurdle
The Fred Winter Handicap Hurdle is a Grade 3 event for novice hurdlers run during the course of the annual Cheltenham Festival at Prestbury Park.
The race is run over a distance of 2 miles 110 yards on the Cheltenham Old Course, and is one of the 'sprint' hurdle handicaps of the Cheltenham meeting. Entry is restricted to 4-year-old novices.
The Fred Winter Handicap Hurdle dates back to 2005. The race was added to the Cheltenham Festival card during the meeting's expansion from a three to four day event, and commemorates the contribution made by legendary trainer, Fred Winter, to national hunt racing.
