2016 JLT Novices’ Chase

The JLT Novices’ Chase replaces Jewson’s sponsorship of the Novices’ Handicap Chase, which was moved to the first day of the Cheltenham Festival in 2011. The event is run in the same timeslot as its predecessor, covers a similar distance of 2 miles 4 furlongs and is open to 5-year-old and above racehorses. Unlike its predecessor, the JLT Novices’ Chase carries a Grade 2 rating.

Noble Prince claimed his little slice of racing history when he won the inaugural running of the Jewson Novices’ Chase under the able guidance of Tony McCoy. That win handed a victory to one of the lesser-known trainers at the festival – Paul Nolan.
