Nicholls Holds All the Cards
With the preliminary races concluded, and trainers restricting Cheltenham Festival preparations to their yards, Cheltenham Festival Betting takes a look at one of the trainers likely to dominate this year’s Cheltenham Festival
Paul Nicholls seems to be holding all the cards at this year’s Cheltenham Festival, and is an excellent bet to take the most titles at the 2008 Cheltenham Festival. The race which is earning Nicholls the most headlines is, of course, the Cheltenham Gold Cup with the two Cheltenham Gold Cup favourites housed in adjacent stalls in Nicholls stables.
However it is not only the Gold Cup that Nicholls is set to dominate. He has also contrived to put himself clear of the other top Festival trainers in the Queen Mother Champion Chase. Once again Nicholls holds the racing equivalent of pocket aces in this race, with the two leading contenders Twist Magic and Master Minded residents of his stable.
With Nicholls boasting such depth of talent in his stables, the other trainers at the festival are effectively left to fight it out for the festival’s two biggest hurdles races. Howard Johnson is favourite to take the Champion Hurdle with Inglis Drever whilst Henry de Bromhead’s Sizing Europe is the favourite for the World Hurdle.
